A Little About Mandaleigh Home

“Jack of All Trades, Master of None”

That’s what my dad always called himself, but growing up, I thought he was always the best at everything!  He owned his own sign-making business and was always one to involve the family in many different creative pursuits. Thanks to him, I have laid brick, painted, carved, made signs, and refinished furniture. He also provided the freedom to pursue my own interests that fell within the sewing and crafting realm (inspired by my crafty grandmother). As a result, I have followed in my families’ footsteps of being creative in many different ways.

This website is mostly devoted to the smaller items I make with needle and thread, with a deliberate nod to my beautiful home state… Maine (the way life should be). However, you mustn’t be surprised to see pieces of refinished or reupholstered furniture. My dad developed dementia in his later years, and our shared interest fell to refinishing furniture, and I am continuing to hone my skills in that area now that he has passed. It is a pleasure for me to make old things new and remember good times!

Creativity can be a business…

You may be interested in how all this became a business.  Well, I was blessed to be a stay-at-home mom but realized that it was putting a strain on finances, and that I would love to have a home-based creative outlet that would help.  I heard about a sales platform that would allow me to make things from home and, of course, sell them.  I started out with bridal pillows and other wedding themed items after helping a friend with her wedding. Business was good, but there is only so much satin you can look at in one day, and one customer special ordered some Maine themed balsam sachets to use as wedding favors… that is when I found a niche that I truly loved!  Now I make Balsam and Lavender sachets and have fun picking fabrics I love or that customers request. Customer requests have also inspired the tree skirts that I’ve designed. Customers have great ideas!!!
